Sam Peckinpah’s ‘The Wild Bunch’ is a masterpiece western. Not the best ever made, but cessation. So don’t consider I don’t like this movie because I savor it. However, since Mexicans are its villains, perhaps you’d be keen to read an concept from this side of the border.

The Mexico of ‘The Wild Bunch’ looks more like a metaphor than a proper position. It is both Heaven and Hell; the theatre where the bunch will secure Death but also Redemption. Accordingly, every Mexican depicted in the record is either a saint or a monster (no middle ground here, except for the Mexican member of the Bunch, who is aptly named “Angel”, although a fallen one) . This serves the legend splendidly, for it’s meant to be an account ballad and not a travelogue, but it does jolt the Mexican viewer because the “capable Mexico” is portrayed so idyllic it’s unreal, while the “poor Mexico” is very, very accurate; in fact, no American movie has captured the eye, sound, feel, texture and carnage of the Mexican Revolution as this one has (even if the grandiose final scene, where the Bunch kills hundreds of heavily armed soldiers all by themselves and none of the four falls down even when riddled by bullets, defies all logic!) . Perhaps that’s why it was banned in Mexico aid when it was released in 1969.

Funny, for it was filmed in Mexico as well. The Texas bordertown you view at the begining of the epic is actually Parras, Coahuila, and many of its citizens acted as extras in the movie: white ones as “Texans”, brown ones as -what else? – Mexicans! Don Raúl Madero, brother of Francisco I. Madero, the man who started the Mexican Revolution, appears …as a Texan! Even the two German officers are Mexican! So, as you can sight, we Mexicans approach in all shapes, sizes and colors, and hardly fit these two tiring, “respectable peasant”-”greaser bandito” stereotypes American movies seem so comfortable with! I hope some day Hollywood realizes this and “stagger the extra mile” to narrate us for what we are: a very complex and diverse society. Neither saints, nor monsters, and certainly not mere bowling pins!

P.S.: Many expansive Mexican directors, all personal friends of Peckinpah, appear in the film. Emilio “Indio” Fernández (Mapache) and Chano Urueta (Angel’s grandfather) were the best of our cinema’s Golden Age. Fernando Wagner (German officer) was also a competent theatre director, and Alfonso Arau (Herrera) is best known for his international hit ‘Like Water for Chocolate’. Jorge Russek (Zamorra) was an outstanding photographer for National Geographic, and Sonia Amelio (Teresa) is a world-aclaimmed dancer (she was even awarded with an “Order of Lenin” assist in the Soviet Union) . And unbiased for the narrate, the word “Mapache” (”racoon”) stands for “coward thief”. No Mexican general, no matter how heinous, would spend, I occupy, such a nickname! And since Mapache is “a killer working for Huerta”, the action takes site in 1913, not 1916 (Huerta was ousted in early 1914) .

There’s not powerful that can be famed about Sam Peckinpah’s knowing 1969 western memoir “The Wild Bunch” that has not already been written. It was an unanticipated, influential work where all things came together, but for a moment, the ruin product a big, sweeping canvas of intimacy between comrades, violence between combatants, desperate nettle amidst changing times. Share Kurosawa, fragment Siegel, share Fuller, allotment Ford, Peckinpah combined his inspirations with a healthy dose of 1960s rebellion producing the ultimate work of his generation, and one of the greatest westerns in history. It was Peckinpah’s spacious fortune that the factual actors were available for this film – William Holden and Robert Ryan in the twilight of their memorable careers, Ernest Borgnine with fair enough youth to be a perfect and exact presence, Edmond O’Brien chewing up the scenery with tobacco-stained teeth, and of course Peckinpah friends Strother Martin, L.Q. Jones and Warren Oates in salty supporting roles. It was also his ample fortune cinematographer Lucien Ballard and composer Jerry Fielding were also on hand to participate in his steadfast vision.

Peckinpah also had something to reveal at this point in his career, when he was unruffled a hungry director with a vision, before alcoholism, disillusionment and celebrity region took acquire. He hid nothing from viewers, and his contradictory heart was laid bare in “The Wild Bunch.” The direction and editing during the violent moments of this film – the opening bank robbery and the concluding battle with the Mexican army – are some of the most unforgettable scenes ever achieve on film. But ironically, and this was usually the case in most Peckinpah films, it is the still moments one remembers. Pike (Holden) and Dutch’s (Borgnine) unfortunate conversation next to a campfire; The Bunch riding out of Angel’s village as if in a funeral procession; Deke (Ryan) taking Pike’s pistol from it’s holster, gently holding it in his hand; and of course Pike standing in the doorway and mouthing two simple words, “Let’s go.”

And of course you have The Trip, in which Holden, Borgnine, Oates and Ben Johnson quietly originate loading their guns, cocking them, arming themselves, smiling at one another, standing shoulder to shoulder. There’s not worthy left for these forgotten outlaws who have lived past their time. Impartial a code of honor, objective their self respect. And so they Plod into the heart of the Mexican army to retrieve their comrade Angel, a prisoner and personal enemy of General Mapache. These surviving members of The Wild Bunch are free to go, but Angel, youthful, love-struck, rebellious, was one of them. They are not going to leave their comrade.

After viewing the astonishing documentary “The Wild Bunch: An Album In Montage” and seeing the rare footage of Peckinpah literally improvising The Lunge, walking alongside Holden, Borgnine, Oates and Johnson, inventing by instinct, one realizes how fiercely creative this man was as a director. This film was his moment in time, his vision, his conception, Peckinpah’s nightmarish and extraordinary dream.

Peckinpah never really made a film quite like “The Wild Bunch” again. Of course, no director ever really has before or since. His uneven career of 14 films, some edifying, some not, has been illustrious and honored. Peckinpah the man, adorned in used jeans and bandanna, certainly perpetuated his myth-like dwelling. But in the raze, you will always have “The Wild Bunch,” an unforgettable film, raw, gritty, whiskey-soaked, sublime. I wail whenever I look this film. I wail in fear. All things came together for Peckinpah on “The Wild Bunch,” and the moment is everlasting.

For sheer catharsis, In America beats every movie I’ve seen since “The Sweet Hereafter” years ago. Like that movie, it deals with the aftermath of the death of a child; unlike that movie, it comes down (after grand agony) on the side of a loving family as the only thing that can heal us.

The Sullivans, a young couple with two adorable daughters, skedaddle illegally into the U.S., consuming to Unique York. In theory this is to befriend Da begin his acting career; in reality, it is an attempt to rush from the dusky memories of young son Frankie, recently died at 5 of a brain tumor.

The performances are all, all pleasing. Samantha Morton, her hair shorn like a penitent nun’s, gives a pretty performance driven by the despair in her eyes. The real-world sisters Sara and Emma Bolger seem completely transparent; they leave the impression they are not acting at all, but really living the loss of their beloved brother. The African actor Djimon Hounsou looms like a unlit but distinguished diety over the unhappy family, alternatively reflecting their hurt and offering them solace.

The ending will surprise you – I won’t give it away here – but it is a sweet resolution. The film seems to have a basis in truth, as it is written by director Jim Sheridan and his two daughters, and dedicated at the ruin to the memory of Frankie Sheridan (who, as it happens, was Jim Sheridan’s brother rather than his son) .

Jim Sheridan’s IN AMERICA, though you may not realize it when you contemplate it, is a memoir about wishes, dreams, honorable defeating poor, families growing stronger, worship outlasting all adversity and America as the land of opportunity. It’s a savory film, touching without being too cute.

One thing you must realize throughout the film, when it takes turns toward optimism when other films would grow darker, is that the account is told through the eyes of Christie, the 10-year-old daughter of an Irish immigrant family recently relocated to Recent York. She narrates the yarn. She speeds it up and slows it down as she needs to. She talks of her sister Ariel’s fears, of her mother’s strength and of her father’s lost smile. And, most importantly, she puts a determined shuffle on each of her proud family’s struggles.

Another director might have taken this same tale and gone in a different, darker direction with it. The elements are there, certainly. The family is dreadful, living in a tenement alongside beggars and drug addicts. Johnny, the girls’ father, is an out-of-work actor who’s uprooted his family to elope dismal memories of his son Frankie, who died. Mateo, the next-door neighbor, and Sarah, the mother, are both faced with life-threatening conditions.

Buy,Download, Or Stream In America! Click Here

But the atmosphere that Sheridan provides us in this film is comforting and light. The city is engaging. The tenement is both scary and magical, depending upon the myth that Christie is telling the audience. No adult spot goes unsolved for long, even ones that seem particularly bleak. Throughout these determined twists, the importance of the narrator is key. Overjoyed endings are considerable to a limited girl, particularly one who feels so responsible for her acquire family. At one point in the epic, for instance, she saves the family from their latest crisis and relates to her father that she’s been the family’s savior for a year.

Though it focuses on her entire family, it’s Christie’s fable. And, while she’s telling it, it’s really titillating and uplifting.

The acting here is uniformly terrific. Paddy Considine, playing Johnny the father, is a revelation. He’s elegant, strong, a minute crazy and yet weighed down by pain. Samantha Morton delivers another compelling performance, yet she comes off here as sweeter and more sympathetic than she did in the disappointing MORVERN CALLAR. Djimon Honsou, best known for his work in AMISTAD, is absolutely spectacular as Mateo, the girls’ doomed neighbor. And Sarah and Emma Bolger, real-life sisters playing the girls in the film, manage the difficult task of playing adorable, likable, obvious children without coming off as entirely too precious and cute.

The script is terrific, and the direction is quite gracious.

IN AMERICA is impartial glorious.

I don’t know about the others on this board, but I have actually watched through the movie, listened to the commentary track, and viewed the featurette. If I have any one complaint, it would be for a longer featurette.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Stargate SG-1: Children of the Gods! Click Here

First of all, this is a completely novel re-edit. Expositional scenes that are establishing the basis of the series (which are wordy and tiring, the flow of the novel pilot) are trimmed. The action is tighter. The movie has also been re-scored, whereas the pilot contained re-hashed music from the novel Stargate feature film. There are also a handful of unusual shots, improved special effects, and a re-recording of Teal’c’s recount (no longer does he have that uncommon accent that he had in the pilot, but it is now in keeping with the rest of the series) .

There is no longer any graphic nudity. Carter no longer makes the cringe-inducing comment about her reproductive organs being on the inside, nor does she say she can “McGuyver” anything, and a continuity error has been removed regarding being able to step abet through the Stargate once entering (glimpse Apophis’ entrance at the beginning of the film) .

There are original scenes trimmed from the pilot now restored in this film. In all, this feels like a film and not like a studio pilot. As a result, the entire feature “feels” more in keeping with the series as a whole.

Richard Dean Anderson joins the commentary track; all in all, an luscious commentary.

The feature is presented in Widescreen 1.78:1 and Dolby 5.1 surround. The quality of the presentation on DVD is powerful better than the modern box region pilot and feels great less “compressed.”

*PLEASE Behold COMMENTS AND MY REPLIES FOR MORE INFORMATION*

First off, dont secure me nasty i Adore Stargate! i hold every DVD of both SG1 and Atlantis, even have a few novles! Shows i observe and peer and care for the more i eye! When i first heard last year about this “re-imagined” pilot movie i was aroused! Becaused it is one of my fave episodes of SG1 (If not my first)

But when i watched this moral off the bat i was deeply disappointed! Lines were sever out from the movie that didnt even need to be! making grand of the begin seem rushed! Sam’s intro scene got a gigantic crop, She has a few unique lines here and there in the movie as well. Brad Wright said it made her character ’stronger’ i didnt leer this! Because she seems more wide eyed then in the unique! Especially when she meets Dr Jackson for the 1st time!(i did a face palm to that one!)

Teal’c (Christopher Contemplate) had his ADR re looped making him sound out of Season ten where his vow has become alot deeper with age. The recent CGI isnt anything that made me go ‘wow what an improvement!’ Yeah the nudity scene was gash, this i didnt mind cause thats not what Sg1 is about, but the few original ’scenes’ added in have changed the wander of the movie for me! The novel scenes are nothing worth the money of this DVD! They seemed rushed and poorly scripted (and the reason why this dvd was done was cause Wright didnt like most of the early writing? ) Most are unbiased different takes of scenes that were in the unusual, which i guess were not In the unusual because they werent as reliable in performance and scripting!!

The biggest sin of a change was taking out the “Macgyver” referance, which i view was a nice touch to Richard Dean Anderson who is one of may fav actors! But this next change is what has me stumped the most! Where Major Kawalsky gets a Goa’uld in him is completely removed, why? I have no concept!! Has Wright in his thirst for easy money forgotten about the episode “The Enemy Within”?? Which follows up from the Children of the Gods!!!! As i said, im stumped with that one!

I never understanding the day would advance where i would be upset with a Stargate dvd for it is my most loved TV reveal, but shaded to say, that day as arrived…

All in all this ‘Re-hashed’ version might be for one off current comers! Since it has no ties with the next Episode in the 1st season now! I dont know how any good Stargate SG1 fan can gain anything in this to gain it seem worth it or that is is better! This DVD has gone into my collection (which i guess makes it complete calm) and when i next originate the SG1 saga again, i will be watching the new polit movie over this!

When I heard that they were releasing a Star Wars “cartoon” in the Movie theaters, I scoffed. I have seen the movies dozens of times and smooth remember seeing the modern at the drive in (!) in 1977 all summer long. I’ve read all the best Star Wars books (*cough*TimothyZahn*cough*), played most of the games, have all the music on my ipod and saw Episode III at midnight. Yea, I’m a fan. Episode 1 and 2 didn’t do it for me, but EP3 brought Lucas befriend into my worthy graces.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Star Wars The Clone Wars: The Complete Season One! Click Here

Despite being a hard core fan, I refused to witness a Star Wars cartoon in a movie theater. Rubbish! I declared. How can Star Wars be a blocky cartoon?

That was a mistake. When I finally got the movie on DVD, it was wonderful. When this explain came out on Cartoon Network, finally, for the first time in YEARS I had a Sci Fi indicate that I actually looked forward to watching each week. Yes, its a cartoon. Yes, I would rob a live action demonstrate or another movie, but I know that is later and never (respectively) . Yes, it could be geared a diminutive more toward adults (but then BattleStar Galactica was so noteworthy geared toward adults, that I couldn’t peruse it. Its softcore porn wrapped in a swearfest, served with torture and gore… oh goody. Lorne Greene is spinning in his grave…) but in the waste, impartial about every episode of Clone Wars is memorable, with small to no filler.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Star Wars The Clone Wars: The Complete Season One! Click Here

Parts of it are recycled, some of the scenes are almost stolen good from the movies, but it works, it works, it works. And there is enough recent material to overlook the recycled parts. I like the quips, I like the original Padawan and the action scenes are incredible.

I don’t give away 5 stars easily. And if you’re turned off at my comments about “BS” Galactica and deem your shows need more porn and gore, not less, you might be turned off a bit at Clone Wars.

After EP3, I notion I would never collect a chance to invest my imagination in the Star Wars universe again, but Clone Wars proved me dull, listless despicable.

At first I idea a cartoon version of Star Wars could never be edifying, until I was bored and bought The Clone Wars movie. Absolutely awesome. The stories are astonishing. While the series seems to be geared toward children, it is substantial for adults as well. I actually couldn’t wait for the first season to reach out on DVD and bought it on iTunes. I even consider the campy droid humor is awesome. And yes, beings are killed in some episodes. They couldn’t have picked a better map to bridge the gap between episode II and episode III. I have seen all the movies multiple times, read all the 110+ books and even the droll books and I say this does Star Wars Justice. A must regain for any Star Wars fan.

Frankly, I’m handsome despondent about the future of quality TV on the major four networks. The unique cancellation by ABC of the breathtakingly radiant PUSHING DAISIES was the first major blow. When a explain this mammoth can regain cancelled for venerable (not genuinely abominable, merely veteran) ratings, you feel that something has gone deplorable with commercial television. For one thing, TV history is glowing with shows that started off weakly and then succeeded a couple of years into their speed. THE X-FILES, SEINFELD, THE OFFICE, and 30 ROCK all started off with frail ratings, only to form an audience later. The second horrific portion of news undermining my confidence in commercial TV was NBC’s announcement that starting next year Jay Leno will gather FIVE HOURS (!) of prime time for a more politically oriented version of his talk explain. First, why would we want Leno when we already have Stewart and Colbert? Second, this means losing FIVE HOURS (!!!!) of scripted programming on NBC each week. This is a recipe for exertion. And an act of despair. NBC clearly doesn’t assume it can design 15 hours of quality TV a week, so it is trying to beget only 10 and then seize the natty cheap option with Leno. NBC, I have news for you: you catch what you pay for.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Mad Men: Season Two! Click Here

MAD MEN could well be the model for successful quality TV shows in the future. Although it gets very extreme ratings, on AMC it is agreeable from cancellation because of its widespread necessary acclaim. More and more, niche cable networks seem to be the residence where quality TV series manage to thrive and avoid the constant threat of cancellation. AMC in fact has two expedient series, Inflamed MEN and the very promising BREAKING Dreadful (which was seriously truncated by the writers’ strike last year) and they’ve announced a current Sci-fi series based upon Kim Stanley Robinson’s acclaimed Mars trilogy, about the settling of colonies on Mars. The series is taking its title from the first of Robinson’s novels, RED MARS.

So, while I’m on the verge of giving up on ABC, NBC, and FOX (though under unusual head of programming Kevin Reilly its shows have become more fascinating and he has so far resisted to demolish shows prematurely as his predecessors did) . CBS I gave up on years ago, since the network seems yelp to churn out an endless number of bland police procedurals. AMC, F/X, Showtime, HBO, ABC Family, the Sci Fi Channel, and similar networks may be where we all go in the future for the best shows.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Mad Men: Season Two! Click Here

MAD MEN became the first present not on one of the immense four networks or HBO to accumulate the Emmy for Best Drama this past summer. It will almost certainly get again this coming summer, since Season Two was even better than Season One. Moreover, during Season Two the explain started building a buzz, culminating with a mountainous appearance by Jon Hamm on SNL, including a skit with some of his Enraged MEN guest stars. The exhibit became fragment of our cultural sensibility, consuming magazine photo spreads. I tranquil judge the display is one that people tend to know about rather than know. Thankfully people who do not have access to AMC can find up on DVD (I gape it as it comes out, but my cable company shows AMC in low-def rather than high-def, so considerable of the show’s physical beauty can only be recaptured on DVD or Blu-ray) .

As generous as the indicate was in Season Two, the sophomore season was even more gleaming. In my review of Season One, I mentioned that Jon Hamm’s character Don Draper exemplifies Thoreau’s statement that most people live “lives of serene desperation.” In Season Two, Hamm and his carefully constructed existence gradually begins coming apart at the seams. His Stepford Wife Betty begins to arrive apart at more than the seams. I really enjoyed January Jones in Season One, but primarily she was a radiant manikin. In Season Two the human being inside is psychically rebelling against the roles she is being forced to play and the result is someone who is on the verge of collapse. One scene in particular was compelling. As she prepares for a dinner party she notices that one of the dining room chairs is wobbly. Titillating the chair succor and forth gives plan to infuriate, as she displaces the stress of her life onto the chair and she begins to ruin and obliterate it. Indeed, the many moments where Betty loses control are among the season’s finest.

January Jones’s astounding performance as Betty gets a bit less acclaim than she deserves in fragment because of Elizabeth Moss’s job as Peggy Olson. I contemplate many people watching Excited MEN began in Season Two to realize that Peggy, as great as Don Draper, was central to the meaning of the indicate. I have very shrimp evidence for this, but I maintain that the expose will ruin with Peggy Olson heading Grand Cooper. The reveal started with her first day as an employee of the company, working as Don Draper’s secretary. We’ve seen her become a successful copywriter for the company and at the raze of Season Two even has the office next to Don’s. I possess that a logical ending of the series, mapping al the changes that took dwelling in national sensibilities in the sixties, would be for Peggy to become head of the company that at the originate of the year was so completely male dominated. This does not mean, however, that Peggy’s personal life has kept inch with her professional life. In fact, Peggy remains a bit of a mess. The season did demolish, however, with perhaps the best scene in the entire bustle of the present so far. Peter tells Peggy that he hates his marriage and that he loves her. Shockingly, Peggy tells him that she had had his baby and given it away. My feeling was that in telling Peter she was not trying to be cruel so noteworthy as she was trying to definitively terminate the door on one share of her life and begin another. Peggy is one of the most wonderfully complex characters on TV. While Don Draper has artfully created a public self, Peggy has not. She has primarily resisted the roles that people have tried to provide for her. She has not yet become her gain person, but you feel that she might. I also procure her and Don Draper’s relationship to be appetizing. They are not discontinuance friends or perhaps not even friends. But a flashback in which Don visits her in the hospital when she is suffering from post-partum depression (intensified by the fact that she didn’t even know she was pregnant) and essentially orders her to obtain her act together and derive out of the hospital. Don is not always presented as a great person, but he has his moments, and the tough adore he gives Peggy at the moment helps her turn her life around.

I mention Don, Betty, and Peggy, but one of the delights of Wrathful MEN is the very deep cast of characters. Joan Holloway (played by the aesthetic Christina Hendricks) has a recent fiancé, but it doesn’t appear to be the healthiest of relationships (one of the most grisly moments in Season Two occurs when he rapes her in Top-notch Cooper offices) . The deeply closeted Salvatore starts gradually to confront his beget sexuality and his attraction to men, including a coworker, while his “beard” marriage struggles. Roger Qualified struggles to overcome health problems in order to marry a distinguished, remarkable younger woman.

But at the heart of the demonstrate Don Draper remains the dominant character. Jon Hamm’s performance as Don has been quick-witted from the very beginning. On “Novel Air with Terry Faulty” series creator Matthew Weiner explained that Hamm instantly stood out in auditions, but the network wanted an established actor in the role. They were adamant that they did not want an unknown actor in the show’s central role. Weiner finally issued an ultimatum, that without Jon Hamm as Don Draper, he was unwilling to move with the series. Weiner’s wisdom in casting Hamm has been proven many times over. It is almost impossible to imagine this indicate without him. Don is one of the most artificial and complex characters in the history of TV. Fair as he creates ad campaigns, so he has created the persona Don Draper. Season Two shows Draper having serious doubts about whether he wants to persist in playing the character he has created for himself.

I read a bit over a year ago that the concept for the prove was to disappear a couple of years into the future with each ensuing season. If so, Season Three should assume up sometime past the Kennedy assassination, perhaps with the early portion of the Vietnam War. Clearly the display intends to consider the gargantuan social upheaval that took region in the decade. It also represents many of the now almost laughable aspects of the pre-sixties world. For instance, in one scene Don, Betty, and their kids are enjoying a picnic on a blanket in a stunning country locale. As they accomplish, Don stands up and shakes all of their trash off the blanket and onto the ground. This was very definitely before Lady Bird Johnson’s attempt to beautify America by picking up trash. I’m obvious that Season Three will reveal many unusual changes.

This is easily one of the 3 or 4 best shows on TV. I effect it up there with my hold favorites PUSHING DAISIES, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, and LOST. View that of those shows PUSHING DAISIES was on ABC and has been cancelled, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS was on DirecTV in the drop and will be on NBC in the winter and spring, and LOST begins its penultimate season on ABC. I assume in the future fewer and fewer of my accepted shows will be originating on the substantial four. AMC, with Excited MEN leading the contrivance, is one of the last, best hopes for television.

The second season of this AMC series is in story/character sense a lot like the second season of Sopranos was for itself. This season spends it’s thirteen episodes expanding upon what has already been established at the same time as it balances sudden original record devices and taking things to their next logical (or sometimes illiogical based on the character) extensions. I found it very palatable and while it may not be a chubby reflection of life in the sixies it truly shows the aspects that it aspires to quite well and shows flawed characters who are corpulent of heart-broken parallels with people in the world today.

The setting of the sixties is tall, it’s nearly the perfect era to pair with such seemingly lost and heart-broken character’s because of it’s ironic nature at the same time as the literal sense of reinvention and change that occured in that time. I feel the first season did a incredible job of setting up this series. The second season acheived it’s goal of expanding, elaborating and extending upon the world and character’s we were introduced to. Now the third season is area up, like most shows, to prefer the best from the first and second seasons and finally reveal us a complete vision of the exhibit without being tied down by these mandatory practices.

Season 2 consists of the following thirteen episodes:

For Those Who Contemplate Young

Flight 1

The Benefactor

Three Sundays

The Current Girl

Maidenform

The Gold Violin

A Night To Remember

Six Month Leave

The Inheritance

The Jet Area

I will update my review when/if any more special features or information are given closer to July, when this will be released. I will also update my review when I have actually seen the special features on the area, but for now I have seen these episodes and mediate there is a lot to be found here for those that want to dig beyond what simply is shown. Apart from that this series looks exquisite and will study even more astonishing on Hi-Def Blu-Ray. Thanks.

The title Groundless or Lost Gospels may be a bit misleading. Early Christianity was surrounded by a complex world of religious diversity and many times other groups tried to ‘borrow’ from each other to attend net converts to their religion. In reality, that’s what Gospels like Thomas, Judas, etc are all about tryin to compose interest in Gnosticism by using well known names of people well known to Christians. This video makes that clear–unlike some others that try to study the Gnostics as an off shoot of Christianity (instead of a seperate religious group with Greek roots) . This video is a first-rate example of explaining a somewhat complicated plot in an understandable device.

This is a qualified primer for the Christian or seeker who may be confused by scholars such as Elaine Pagels who claim that there were many “competing Christianities” and “hundreds of Gospels” in the early centuries. This DVD exposes the sinful postmodernist thinking slack this so-called scholarship.

Volume 2 of My-Hime further deepens not only the state but the characters. The Hime seem to be wrestling with what to do with their powers. Whether to befriend unknown agents and be controlled, exhaust the power for selfish reasons, or to simply ignore them! Mai, at this point, wants to forget the whole dilemma and objective score on with her life. But she isn’t going to accept her wish. The region is composed a petite fuzzy, but gives honest enough info to refrain from being frustrating. At this early stage, the writers are concentrating more on building up the characters. In terms of animation, this series is radiant pleasurable, and the characters are realistically designed with a sexy edge. My-Hime is a keeper!

It was stout to spy more Hime note themselves… and man was there some crazy twists…

I agree with many of the reviewers that “Recall the Lead” could have benefitted with more dance and less “action”. I agree that the plotline’s been done before….inspirational teacher arrives at a tough school in a tough plot, is initially mistrusted by a cast of student characters, and prevails because he/she really cares to note up, to screech, and to provide an example and inspiration to the students. Yeah, Sidney Poitier did it, yeah, Michelle Pfeiffer did it, Robin Williams – but composed, the record of Pierre Dulaine is right, and it is compelling. And the new ballroom dance “craze” allowed it to be brought to the cloak.

Banderas always brings it to his films. He’s somewhat of a caricature; the hot, smoky Spaniard with the honest heart. I settle to occupy his public persona, that he’s like this in dependable life, as well. Banderas is more than attractive as Pierre Dulaine – he has a light, believable touch. He inspires. It feels as though making this movie was not unprejudiced another job, another role to him. I reflect that quality in Banderas is like the indefinable charm that Hugh Jackman brings to a role….and it’s why they’re as successful on stage as they are on veil. They’re living it.

His student cast – a permanent, multicultural cast of detention junkies (why Yaya Dacoste as LahRette is in detention is anybody’s guess), including Engage Brown as Rock (he was great here, amazing in Finding Forrester), is quirky but endearing (yes, that’s a tired clich?, from movies and TV as well) .

Dulaine’s got a somewhat successful dance studio; he’s a widower, his life is busy but not chubby and these kids strike a chord with him. There’s a puny mix of hip hop with his ballroom in the classroom, but by far the most moving scene in the film takes space at the final competition, when dancer Jenna Dewan (a bit player in the saga of the romantic life of Justin Timberlake) heats up the floor dancing the tango with not ONE, but two partners (microscopic role successes Lyriq Curved, as Easy and Dante Basco, who has mammoth cover potential galore, as Ramos) . This trio absolutely makes the audience, both in the film and in seats in the theater stand up and cheer for a sensuous, serious and memorable dance sequence.

I loved both Japanese and American versions of “Shall We Dance? “, I was wrathful for “Angry Hot Ballroom”, I even have the DVD of Vanessa Williams’ and Chayanne’s hot and sexy “Dance With Me” which aired out Latin Ballroom Dancing well before the unique film and TV craze. And I loved, “Win the Lead”, as well. Formulaic, yes, a dinky misdirected by first time film director Liz Friedlander, but peaceful a mountainous movie for dance-lovers, and, similar to “Shall We Dance? ” and “Dance With Me”, it will be a approved DVD for a wider audience.

4 Stars!

If I had to narrate this movie, I’d call this a mix between the basics of Dirty Dancing : Havana Nights (it combines different types of dancing, Assume the lead mixes hip hop and ballroom dancing) and Perilous minds/Sister Act 2 (in the device the teacher tries to inspire students) .

The movie is based on a legal account. Mr.Dulane (Antonio Banderas), a ballroom dancer with his possess teaching studio, decides to become a detention supervisor in an inner-city school, and then to inspire and jabber these kids trust and hope (among others) through ballroom dancing. In exchange, of course, these kids verbalize him a minute something as well. Antonio Banderas is sizable and is believeable as a ballroom dancer/teacher. The supporting cast also helps carry the movie and does an astounding job.

I really enjoyed this movie. It’s an inspirational anecdote, but it also manages to hold sure of corniness and unexcited be titillating thanks to Banderas’ gargantuan performance, but also in gargantuan fraction thanks to the dancing and the mix of different styles of music. There’s silly parts, there are dramatic parts, it has all the makings of a suitable movie, and it succeeds, even though I idea it lost its plod once or twice, but nothing the movie doesn’t recover from.

I also liked the fact that while it reaches wide audiences, it also has an underlying message, criticizing today’s society for setting up a clear outcasting of inner-city schools. But not to anguish, the movie has no political agenda, it’s all underlying. It’s an inspirational movie that’s made for involving the audience, not beating them on the head with criticism, and in that sense the movie does exactly what it’s meant to do.

I highly recommend this movie. (And if you enjoyed this one, you’ll probably like “Effect The Last Dance”, and vice-versa)

When I heard time life was releasing these videos, I was so tickled. However, when I got them, I realized that they were edited. They are completely different from the recent HBO series. All of the hip hop once played, has been replaced with elevator music. There is no intention anyone can critique these videos without viewing the new series. I reflect it was stupid on HBO’s piece to sell the rights to time life. I guess it is all about what sells’ rather than authenticity. Do not but it if you were a proper fan because you will be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I decided to check this out because I had heard respectable things about it,and D.L. Hughley is one of my common comedians.(This is the actual same reason why I checked out the Novel Kings Of Comedy.) I was jubilant. This DVD contains 3 episodes of HBO’s groundbreaking comedy series,”Def Comedy Problem”.They each fill 4 comedians. They are all hosted by Martin Lawrence. This is one of the reasons why I didn’t give this 5 stars. The first two shows on here are very droll, and the third one is OK.Two comedians on the third note aren’t silly. One of them was Laura Hayes, from the Queens of Comedy. The other one was one of Russell Simmons’ favorites. His name was Gi George. My favorites on here are D.L. Hughley,Ricky Harris, and the very first comedian on here. His name was AJ Jamal. There is A LOT of cussin’ and swearin’.Every comedian also tells at least one sex joke.So if you have young children,DO NOT let them approach Stop to the ENTIRE SERIES.Otherwise, sit benefit and like the greatest stand up TV prove ever recorded.I’m signing off for now.In the mean time check out the rest of the series,I guarantee you will like it.

This is the best movie I have seen in a long time. I judge I had tears in my eyes through 75% of the movie. This is Dakota Fanning’s best performance. Jennifer Hudson was spectacular. Queen Latifah delivered like never before. Everyone was extraordinary in this film. Don’t ruin your time renting this one because it’s one to occupy. You really connect with the characters and the issues at hand. This is a must discover movie.

Excellent movie. Almost perfect version of the book. I was expecting a PG though but composed it’s a broad movie. For me one of the best movies of 2008.
